On Wednesday, we gathered, Jewish, Christian, Muslim and Druze religious peace leaders at St. Anthony’s school in Rame, Galilee to officially found the Abrahamic Reunion as an Amuta/NGO in Israel. Greek Melkite Deacon Jiries Mansour, founder and principal of this school, hosted our meeting. Though we have worked together since our founding journey to the Parliament of the World’s Religions (PWR) in Barcelona in 2004, we were never a formal amuta, but a project of Jerusalem Peacemakers. This board formed at the recent PWR in Salt Lake City, now we came together to sign the paperwork and begin the process of creating a vessel to deepen the work… and enable fundraising. Present were: Imam Khalil and Sana Albaz, Bedouin leaders from Tel Sheva, Rabbi Yakov Nagen from Otniel yeshiva, Rabbanit Hadassah Froman, wife of the late Rabbi Menachem Froman (z”l), Sheikh Abdel Salaam Manasra (Jr.), Druze Sheikh Hussein Abu Rukkun. Other founding members will join in the coming days in signing the documentation in front of the Druze lawyer we met with at the conclusion of our meeting and tour of the school of Muslim, Druze and Christian students.
