He has spent the last 50 years sharing the great tradition of vocal jazz interpretation and improvisation with audiences throughout the world. He has performed and recorded with as well as opened for some of the greatest of America’s Jazz and R&B Icons\, Joe Williams\, Dizzy Gillespie\, Miles Davis\, Chick Corea\, Cedar Walton\, Ramsey Lewis\, Joe Zawinul\, Aretha Franklin\, George Benson\, Richard Elliot\, Patti LaBelle\, just to name a few. He is rooted in the ancient vocal practices of melodic narrative and has been nurtured by masters of the West African oral traditions. He has likewise spent a lifetime studying and performing this great American treasure\, Jazz! He cherishes the joy of makin’ music and states it with a smile on his face during every performance\, thrilling audiences of all kinds around the world! Fred believes that Music heals and  touches the world\, one heart at a time. “What greater gift than to be a part of creating these experiences for humanity.\, Fred Johnson”\n\nBarbara Schmitz studied writing at the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics where she was Allen Ginsberg’s apprentice. She taught writing and literature at Northeast College for thirty years\, founded and coordinated the Visiting Writer’s Series there. Two of her five volumes of poetry have won the Nebraska Center for the Writer awards. Her latest Just Outside was published by Sandhills Press in 2019. Sundown at Faith Regional is forthcoming from Pinyon which published her memoir Path of Lightning: A Seeker’s Jagged Journey about spiritual practice\, relationship and travel with her Sufi guide to India\, Turkey\, Bali\, and Jerusalem. She lives on Highway 81 with husband Bob writing to the rhythms of the Highway River and practicing meditation. \nBayati Music Ensemble \nBayati performs classical Arabic and Middle Eastern Music\, based in Kansas City\, MO. \n\n  \n  \n  \nRabbi David Zaslow\nServes as Rabbi of Havurah Shir Hadash in Ashland\, Oregon\, where he has hosted Sheikh Ghassan Manasra of the Abrahamic Reunion. Rabbi David Zaslow was born in Brooklyn\, New York in 1947. He was ordained in 1995 by Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi under the supervision and mentorship of Rabbi Aryeh Hirschfield. In the summer of 1996 he became spiritual leader of the Havurah\, which was founded in June 1985. In 2003 he completed his term as a Spiritual Advisor to ALEPH\, the umbrella organization of the Jewish Renewal movement. He is a longstanding interfaith advocate and leader.\nAbed Alsalam Manasra\nSheikh Abd alsalam Manasra is Interreligious Dialogue Lecturer for Rising Tide International in Sarasota\, FL\, the Israeli Programs Manager for the Abrahamic Reunion\, and an ordained Sheikh in the Tariqat Qadriyya As-Salaam (Qadiri Sufi Order Of Peace). He is also a musician and actively organizes interfaith dialogue and gatherings for youth and young adults in and around Nazareth and across the Holy Land\, and interfaith programs in Sarasota FL and internationally. \nSheikh Ghassan Manasra\nSheikh Ghassan Manasra is an ordained Sheikh in the Qadiri Sufi Order in the Holy Land\, and son of Sheikh Abdel Salaam Manasra – head of the Qadiri Sufi Order in the Holy Land. He is the founder of Anwar-Il-Salaam\, the Lights of Peace Center in Nazareth\, and Director of Islamic Cultural Center in Nazareth. He is International Executive Director of Abrahamic Union. \nGhassan is an expert and lectures in Islam\, Islamic history\, Sufism\, and contemporary Muslim issues in the Middle East\, Europe\, and the USA. He is married to daughter of late Sheikh Baghdadi\, renowned Muslim leader\, and Holy Land facilitator in interfaith dialogue projects. Ghassan has received multiple awards and accolades for his peacemaking\, including most recently the 2014 “Outstanding Leader in Interreligious Dialogue Award” from the Dialogue Institute at Temple University. \nDavid Less\nDavid Less is a global meditation teacher\, author\, and peacemaker known for his decades of work in interfaith dialogue and conflict resolution. A lifelong practitioner of Sufism\, he is a co-founder and current chairman of the Abrahamic Reunion\, a non-profit dedicated to peacebuilding in the Holy Land.

In the early 1980’s he led The Vancouver Sufi Choir and recorded (with Aziza Cooper) a groundbreaking collection of chants and songs from the world’s many religious traditions. In 1985\, Amir founded and conducted The Universal Gospel Choir\, a powerhouse interfaith vocal ensemble that just celebrated its 40th anniversary. He is the founder of the Swords Into Plowshares project of UNESCO. This project envisions the turning from global militarism to global peacebuilding.  Rabbi Yitz is an accomplished musician playing cello\, guitar\, composing and recording his songs. \nPRESENTERS\nJack Kornfield\n\nJack trained as a Buddhist monk in the monasteries of Thailand\, India and Burma. He has taught meditation internationally since 1974 and is one of the key teachers to introduce Buddhist mindfulness practice to the West. He is a founding teacher of the Insight Meditation Society and Spirit Rock Meditation Center. He holds a PhD in clinical psychology\, and is a father\, husband\, and activist. She has been immersed in Sufism for 40 years. \nRev. Dr. Gary Mason\n\nThe Rev. Dr. Gary Mason is a Methodist minister who founded and directs the Belfast-based conflict transformation nonprofit Rethinking Conflict. Previously\, he spent 28 years as a Methodist clergyperson in Belfast and played a role in the Irish peace process. \n\nTed Brownstein\nAR USA Board of Directors member Ted Brownstein is a Jewish-Baha’i living in Lake Worth\, Florida with his wife\, Chris. He is International Executive Director of Abrahamic Union. \nGhassan is an expert and lectures in Islam\, Islamic history\, Sufism\, and contemporary Muslim issues in the Middle East\, Europe\, and the USA. He is married to daughter of late Sheikh Baghdadi\, renowned Muslim leader\, and Holy Land facilitator in interfaith dialogue projects. Ghassan has received multiple awards and accolades for his peacemaking\, including most recently the 2014 “Outstanding Leader in Interreligious Dialogue Award” from the Dialogue Institute at Temple University. \nDavid Less\nDavid Less is a global meditation teacher\, author\, and peacemaker known for his decades of work in interfaith dialogue and conflict resolution. Fasting is a sacred practice in the Abrahamic Faith traditions\, which will be explored and discussed at our online program. In the Holy Land\, the Ramadan fast is 14 hrs long\, so\, after dinner in the US\, if you refrain from eating or drinking\, and skip breakfast\, you can break the fast with us having fasted about the same amount of time. \n\nRamadan Fast Times:\n\nJerusalem: 4:51am – 7:10pm (14hrs\, 19min)\nSarasota: 6:07am – 7:52pm (13hrs\, 45min)\n14hrs prior to 12:10pm EDT = 10:10pm EDT.\n\n\n\nWhat to bring: Dates & Water \nWhether or not you are fasting\, you are invited to bring water and dried dates for the symbolic breaking of the fast\, together. Dates and water are commonly the first items consumed to break the fast in the Holy Land\, providing much needed hydration\, and a burst of sugars to reanimate the organs of the body. \nFasting is a way to be in connection with the Abrahamic connections to fasting\, and to be in connection with those who don’t have enough food to eat\, who are fasting because of famine\, starvation\, lack of aid\, etc\, as in Gaza and in many places around the world. \nThe practice of fasting is traditionally seen as a way of becoming closer to God\, to the spirit\, and further from materiality\, corporeality. It is a practice seen in many traditions outside the Abrahamic Faiths as well\, a a means of purification of body\, mind\, and heart. \n(Muslims outside the Holy Land – we will be symbolically breaking the fast at the Iftar time in the Holy Land\, so of course\, we understand you won’t break fast with us together.)

In 1993 he received the International Courage of Conscience Award and in 1995 he received the Mount Zion Award for promoting interfaith dialogue. He wrote the book Sulha: Traditional Palestinian Peacemaking Process\, and co-founded of the Abrahamic Reunion.

Sheikh Tamimi  serves as a coordinator of the Sha’ariya scholars and Imam’s court in the Palestinian territories and in Israel. Sheikh Tamimi is the president of International Movement for Peace and Coexistence IMPAC \, a member of the  board of directors of Interfaith encounter association\, He was and still is participating in the activities of several joint Palestinian-Israeli organizations.. For the last decade\, Al-Tamimi has been a leading activist for co-existence and in the fight against the violence and terrorism. \n  \nSiham Halabi\nSiham Halabi is a Druze leader and the Director of the Women’s Program and Adult Education at the Daliat Al Carmel Community Center providing courses in women’s economic empowerment\, home management\, drivers education\, Hebrew and Arabic languages\, social activism\, and interfaith understanding. He worked with the Palestinian Students’ Union in Italy\, continuing to work under the Palestinian umbrella\, before moving to Jordan\, then to Italy as spokesmerson for the Palestinian community in the province of Tuscany. Six years ago he returned to Palestine and is currently the head of the Greek Catholic Patriacrhate of Jerusalem. \n  \nSheikh Mowafaq Tarif\nShaykh Mowafaq Tarīf is the current spiritual leader of the Druze community in Israel. Tarif was born in 1963 in the city of Julis. Since 1753\, his family has been leading the Druze community in Mandatory Palestine and then Israel. In 1993\, he inherited the position of spiritual leader from his grandfather\, Shaykh Amin Tarif. \n  \n \nAnat Lev Or\nAnat Lev Or from Israel\, is a mother and spiritual teacher and companion for over 30 years. Anat accompanies people in the process of growth and change\, as well as businessmen through spiritual\, practical\, and business aspects.  Anat has been Ghassan Manasra’s partner for 25 years in building projects that are shared by all religions\, working as peacemakers and establishing study groups such as a program for teachers and school executives from all religions\, Muslims\, Christians\, and Jews. She helps organized also family encounters so different religious groups can recognize one another and that their children will meet and recognize a different culture. She has taught groups the Sufi way through peace and love including poetry\, philosophy\, etc. \n \nRabbi Dr. Doron Donino\nRabbi Dr. Doron Danino\, 50\, is married to Hila and has four children. Born in Jaffa\, now a resident of the Galilee\, he is a researcher of Sephardic identity and North African Jewry. Rabbi Danino is a member of Rabbinical Council of Tzohar\, a Member of the Committee\, on behalf of Oxford Research\, to examine the state of equality in Israeli society and is currently Senior Advisor for Herbert C Kelman Ins groups in the CAF. \n  \n \nSheikh Zuhair Dabei\nSheikh Dabei is the Imam of Qawthar Mosque in Rafidia\, Palestine. He’s a figure of enlightened thought\, originality\, and tradition who is an authentic cultural pillar with revolutionary thought and rhetoric. This is true not only for Israel and Palestine\, but throughout the world. Many people think there will never be peace in the Holy Land\, just as many believe we will never have peace throughout the world. But communal prayer and meditation\, with a focus on the common good\, can create the shift in consciousness that we all seek. \nAt each Online Unity Prayer for the Holy Land\, religious leaders and holy peacemakers in Israel and Palestine will join together on zoom and lead 30 minutes of prayer. \nThese meetings will begin at 6:00 pm in the Holy Land\, which is 4 pm in London\, and 11 am EDT. \nDavid Less\, AR Board Chairman\, and Sheikh Ghassan Manasra\, AR International Director\, will virtually host on-site Muslim\, Jewish\, Christian\, and Druze prayer leaders as well as one spiritual musician in the Holy Land. \nPlease join us. He worked with the Palestinian Students’ Union in Italy\, continuing to work under the Palestinian umbrella\, before moving to Jordan\, then to Italy as spokesmerson for the Palestinian community in the province of Tuscany. Six years ago he returned to Palestine and is currently the head of the Greek Catholic Patriacrhate of Jerusalem. \n  \nSheikh Mowafaq Tarif\nShaykh Mowafaq Tarīf is the current spiritual leader of the Druze community in Israel. Tarif was born in 1963 in the city of Julis. Since 1753\, his family has been leading the Druze community in Mandatory Palestine and then Israel. In 1993\, he inherited the position of spiritual leader from his grandfather\, Shaykh Amin Tarif. \n  \n \nAnat Lev Or\nAnat Lev Or from Israel\, is a mother and spiritual teacher and companion for over 30 years. Anat accompanies people in the process of growth and change\, as well as businessmen through spiritual\, practical\, and business aspects.  Anat has been Ghassan Manasra’s partner for 25 years in building projects that are shared by all religions\, working as peacemakers and establishing study groups such as a program for teachers and school executives from all religions\, Muslims\, Christians\, and Jews. She helps organized also family encounters so different religious groups can recognize one another and that their children will meet and recognize a different culture. She has taught groups the Sufi way through peace and love including poetry\, philosophy\, etc. \n \nRabbi Dr. Doron Donino\nRabbi Dr. Doron Danino\, 50\, is married to Hila and has four children. Born in Jaffa\, now a resident of the Galilee\, he is a researcher of Sephardic identity and North African Jewry. Rabbi Danino is a member of Rabbinical Council of Tzohar\, a Member of the Committee\, on behalf of Oxford Research\, to examine the state of equality in Israeli society and is currently Senior Advisor for Herbert C Kelman Ins groups in the CAF. \n  \n \nSheikh Zuhair Dabei\nSheikh Dabei is the Imam of Qawthar Mosque in Rafidia\, Palestine. He’s a figure of enlightened thought\, originality\, and tradition who is an authentic cultural pillar with revolutionary thought and rhetoric. He is one of the greatest advocates of coexistence and peace\, and has many articles and books on the topic. \n  \n \nDavid Less\nAbrahamic Reunion US Board Chair \n\n\nDavid Less is a global teacher of meditation and interfaith dialog of over forty years. For over a decade he was the Global Dean of the Universal Worship\, an organization in over thirty countries\,that honors the commonality in all religions and appreciates and respects the differences. She is a Coordinator of the TRUST WIN\, a member of the  Women’s Parliament and various orgaizations for dialogue and understanding between the cultures\, and for the advancement of women and social issues affecting women.  She is a Druze spokeswoman representing Druze women in national forums. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nFather Firas Diab\nFather Firas Diab is the Roman Catholic Parish Priest in Zababdi village in the West Bank. He has degrees in Philosophy and Theology\, and is always very actively building connection with the Western Churches and for the solidarity with the Palestinian nation.  He is a very active peacemaker with Abrahamic Reunion and has been part of many AR events. \n  \n \nRabbi Dr. Shlomo Dov Rosen\nRabbi Rosen heads the Yakar Institute in Jerusalem\, and is the communal rabbi of the Yakar synagogue. He is also an associate fellow at the Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace. His doctoral dissertation was on the metaphysical and theological foundations of social justice theory. He has taught for many years in religious institutions\, done interfaith work\, lectured widely in Philosophy\, and published in scholarly journals. \n \nNajah Kabaha\nNajah Kabaha is a leader in the Muslim community in Israel\, working for interfaith connection for many years through the Qadri Sufi Peace Order. She teaches young children. \n  \n \nJacob Cohen\nJacob Cohen is President of the Samaritan Legend Association and participant in many multi-religious gatherings in Palestine and abroad. \n  \n \nFrancesca Scalinci\nRaised Mormon\, Francesca became Muslim four years ago. She has a phd in postcolonial studies and in her academic work she has researched about intercultural and inter-religious dialogue. She is also a poet. \n  \n \nIhab Youssef Al-Sameri \nIhab is the Secretary of the Samaritan community around Mt Grizim in the West Bank of Palestine\, and is the Director of the Bridges Association in Nablus.
